“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
As the mother of 5 children, I have learned lessons by trial and error an some by discipline and perseverance. One thing I know for certain, “consistency builds lives”. It was the practice in our home to have our children involved in church from the time they were 2 weeks old. You might say, “that’s a little extreme” but by starting the habit early, it was never a question on Sunday morning if we were going to church.
Now today, I write you as a grandmother. I have now reaped the rewards of what we sowed in our early years of childrearing. Don’t get me wrong, we don’t have perfect children, but one thing I do know… when they’re faced with life’s issues, they have a foundation they can stand on and knowledge of God’s Word that was planted in their hearts at an early age.
For this reason, I love to teach our children at Willow Lake Church. To see them learn how to look up scripture and learn lessons and facts about the Bible that many of their parent’s don’t even know, it’s a fun adventure for them and for me!
I’m a firm believer that children will learn what they can feel, touch and put into practice. That’s why you might visit WLC on any given Sunday and find our children outside following the “Journey’s of Paul” or “Leading the Blind to Jesus” or “Winnowing Wheat” or any number of other lessons from God’s Word.
Sunday at 9am is when your child will come and have fun learning that God’s Word is real today and we can rely on it to help us with life’s problems.
I look forward to meeting you and your precious gift(s) that God has given you to raise!
